Mission teams from all over the United States join DV in the quest to make disciples’ in the villages of Haiti. These teams are essential to our mission. And just as essential is a point person to organize the efforts of the groups, along with harmonizing them with the realities of operating in a 3rd world country.
That’s why having a passionate and capable person acting as our Missions Director is crucial to the ministry of Disciples’ Village. We’re thrilled to announce that Graham Howard is joining our Haiti staff to fill the role of Missions Director for the next year!
Graham has been making regular trips to Haiti through Alex’s House and DV since the ministry began. Joining efforts on the ground two to three times a year, he became well connected to the staff, the work, and the vision. As the trips to Haiti came and went, he began to sense a tug to be a larger part of the ministry:
Over the past few years, I’ve had a growing desire to be involved on a deeper level. And each time I left Haiti for the states, I felt a lingering sadness.
Along with an increased desire to invest himself in the ministry of Disciples’ Village, he also began to feel differently about his career in the states:
I began to wonder if my job was where God wanted me. I was less passionate about it.
This past year, Graham called his father, founder and president Bill Howard, to tell him he felt God calling him to be involved in Disciples’ Village in a greater way. The timing seemed more than coincidence, since Steve Haddix had been promoted to Haiti Field Director, opening up the Missions Director position.
After much prayer and discussion, Graham accepted the call to leave his life in the states for a time in order to serve as the DV Missions Director. He officially joined staff on the ground in Haiti in October.
Graham brings great organizational skills, a business background, and a natural penchant for working with people to his new position. After graduating from Erskine College with a degree in Business Administration, he was employed by Freshpoint Produce as a production manager. Although he enjoyed developing people in his previous job, he brings great drive and passion to his new position:
The most exciting thing about working here is seeing the difference I’m making for the Kingdom.
Join us in welcoming Graham to the Disciples’ Village staff!
