Mission Trips Change Us
They impact not only the people we travel to serve, but who we are.

Our group from North Point Community Church had the blessing of traveling to Haiti. On our first day we met the children of Alex’s House Orphanage. Seeing them in person, their little fingers and toes, was priceless! The power of security and love is so apparent. We spent our week building tables and benches for the children at Alex’s House to eat their meals on as a family. On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings over 1000 people attended the Community Church services and 55 people gave their lives to Christ! We also walked through neighborhoods, asking people if we could pray for them. Some of the prayer requests were heart wrenching and sobering. Our group also shared God’s word with the children through storytelling, crafts, and games. We had a BLAST! As much as we shared with them, the Haitians shared so much more with us!
I've been to Haiti through Disciples' Village many times, but on this particular trip I was drawn to the outcasts. Especially a little boy named Joel. He wasn't in school (no uniform) and didn't communicate verbally. However, he completed the wooden car craft with no problem, lightening fast actually! I made a point to watch him during worship and boy did he communicate with Jezi! He sang every word to every song, straight to the One who created him...the One who knit him together in his mother's womb, the One who knew he would look a little different, the One who knew this girl from Alabama needed to see this little Haitian boy sing. Mesi Jezi for the staff at Disciples' Village and their desire to spread the light of Jesus into the darkness of Haiti!
